Cloud-native computing paradigms for NNSA advanced digital engineering

Containers and Computing-as-a-Service (CaaS) for Advanced Digital Engineering is a research program within the DOE/NNSA Computational Systems and Software Environments (CSSE) portfolio focused on applying modern cloud-native computing paradigms to national security engineering workflows.

Kevin T. Pedretti leads this program as Principal Investigator. Andrew helped establish and launch the initiative, contributing to its early direction in applying containers, microservices, and on-demand resource provisioning to enable more agile and scalable computing for NNSA’s advanced digital engineering missions.

Research focus:

  • Designing computing delivery models that bridge HPC and cloud infrastructure
  • Enabling containerized, on-demand workflows for engineering simulation and analysis pipelines
  • Scaling DevSecOps and CI/CD practices to NNSA supercomputing environments
  • Supporting stockpile stewardship and national security computing requirements
